Biography
Charlie Elo, a New York native, raised between his birth city and the Dominican Republic, is an artist, muralist, and curator. He has been actively showcasing his wide range of talents throughout most of his life. He is a graduate of Laguardia High School of the Arts and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Lehman College (CUNY). Charlie's reverence for fine art, street art, cinema, and music has been a primary and consistent source of inspiration to him and has greatly influenced his artistic expression through these mediums. He often uses mixed media in order to satiate his diverse creativity. A love for the interactive and shared energy provided by the Live Art experience led him to reach new plateaus in his artistic career; participating in events throughout New York City.
In 2014, Elo launched his online apparel store elovatedapparel.com and often combines his fine art and t-shirt designs to create artful apparel. He has exhibited his work in several group shows at fine art galleries including the Longwood art gallery and the Lehman Art Gallery. He is currently working on his solo exhibition. As an accomplished muralist, he has been a part of several communities re beautification projects across NYC and has traveled abroad to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Florida to participate in large-scale mural projects as well. For 5 years Charlie led a summer children's Art workshop at Casa Ana Family care center for orphaned and abandoned children in the Dominican Republic. He has been an instructor for senior citizens' painting workshops and is the Managing Director of Art Culture NYC (@artcultureNYC), a collective of prolific Latino Artists primarily based in NYC.
